THE BREAD OF LIFE

“They all ate and were satisfied.” – Matthew 15:37
I got dengue in October 2017. My platelet count kept going down at every test. It started at 104 x 103 per microliter (normal is 150 to 450) and by the fifth day of my confinement, my platelet reached its lowest count at 12. My doctor then advised me to get blood donors. The difficult part was my blood type was AB+ and the platelet donors need to have the same blood type, too. We contacted friends, relatives, coworkers, and community members. Only three qualified donors were available that day.

I was starting to lose hope. I found myself praying to God. “Lord, we cannot find any more blood donors. I need a miracle now. I need Your holy Blood for my recovery. Amen.”
The next day, a good friend and his wife from our community visited me. Since he was an extraordinary minister of the Eucharist in the parish and it was a Sunday, he offered to give me communion. I only asked for Jesus’ Blood last night but now I am receiving His Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity. I considered the communion as God’s answer to my prayer.
On the evening of that day, my platelet count rose to 55 and continued to do so until I recovered. God is truly the only One who satisfies all our needs

Reflect: Do you take the Communion for granted? Or do you appreciate the grace that comes with the Holy Eucharist?
Lord, may Your Body and Blood strengthen us not only physically but, more importantly, spiritually. Amen.
