DISYERTO

Empty. A barren area of land. Lifeless. Dry. Very few plants grow there. Very few animals survive there. It's not a place where one wants to live. That's the desert. People avoid it.
But not John the Baptist.
Matthew 3:1 says "In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judea."
John live in the desert. He ate locusts & wild honey in the desert. He started his ministry there.
What can a Christian learn from John?
FIND YOUR DESERT. Don't avoid it.
I met a lot of people who are like John. They found themselves in a "desert" but with God's grace look what they did.
  • A cancer survivor who now organizes fund raising events for kids with cancer.
  • A woman from a broken family who now counsels those with family issues.
  • Formerly financially broke due to his gambling, this man now teaches financial literacy to the poor.
  • A former orphan builts an orphanage for abandoned kids.
That's what God can do to your desert. God allows you to undergo a "desert" experience so you may find your own desert & bring life to those experiencing the same.
Instead of asking God "why am I here in this desert?", ask Jesus "how can I bless people here?".
I say again, don't abandon your desert. DON'T DESERT YOUR DESERT. Look for it.
That's your assignment this #Advent2019. Find your desert & THRIVE!
Have a blessed ADVENT Sunday! - alvinfabella@yahoo.com
