a personal reflection on 6th Sunday of Easter 2019 (May 26, 2019)
Jesus said "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you" (John 14:27). He ends that verse with "Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid."
Teka Lord, nagbigay ka ng peace? Then why is our world filled with so much conflict?
- Territorial disputes among countries
- Families fighting over political positions
- Siblings fighting over their inheritance
- Friends resorting to gossip to get that work promotion
Nasaan ang peace dun? If that's peace who needs hate? At sa dami ng problema natin paano naman iyong "let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid"?
We all have worries. Minsan parang unli-worries pa nga. Minsan ang buhay natin parang math, puro problem solving. We are either coming out of a problem, in a problem or will face a problem. So, what's this peace that Jesus gives?
- Peace not as the world defines it. As He says in John 14:27 "my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you." Peace that's internal not due to external factors.
- Jesus gives us "the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:7). Peace that keeps as focus of Him.
- Why should our hearts & minds not be troubled? Because God says "fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." (Isaiah 41:10)
Kaibigan, pag ang focus mo na kay Kristo, mapayapa ang buhay mo kahit magulo ang paligid mo!
May we focus more on Jesus because He is always bigger than any of our the problems. Have blessed week ahead! - alvinfabella@yahoo.com
