a personal reflection on John 18:33-37 (November 25, 2018)
Pilate asked Jesus in John 18:33 “Are you the King of the Jews?"
Baka yan din ang tanong na dapat natin sagutin - “Are you the King?" Because sometimes we act like kings. We think that,
Anong ibig sabihin niyan?
- ....we need to collect things because a king owns a lot. That’s materialism.
- ....we are always right because whatever a king declares is the law. That’s a narcissist.
- .....we are superior over others. That’s being egotistical.
- ....the world revolves around us. Bakit araw ka ba? ๐
Jesus tells us in John 18:37, "You say that I am a king. For this I was born, and for this I have come into the world, to bear witness to the truth.”
What’s this truth that Jesus declare?
That God fulfills the promise He made to David in 2 Samuel 7:12 “When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come forth from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.”
God always fulfills His promise. God was speaking about His Son Jesus in that verse.
Pagkat SI KRISTO LANG ANG TUNAY NA HARI!
Anong ibig sabihin niyan?
We are all his subjects. God should reign in our lives not anything else. We should listen to Him because "every one who is of the truth hears my voice" (John 18:37). Let him mold you to what you were meant to be. Let Him mold you to be holy. Let His Church transform you into a saint!
Isaiah 64:8 declares "Yet, O LORD, you are our Father; we are the clay, and you are our potter; we are all the work of your hand."
Always remember that God is KING. God is the POTTER. We are only clay. May you have a blessed CHRIST THE KING Sunday! - alvinfabella@yahoo.com
